The Lelo Hugo is my absolute favorite toy. It is much more powerful than the Tantus Prostate Play, the first vibrator I tried, and it also has a motor in the bulb that presses up against your perineum aka taint. Together those two things took my orgasms to another level.
The basics
Lelo is a Swedish company that makes luxury sex toys for men and women. The Hugo, which came out in 2015, comes in either black (which I chose) or ocean blue and retails for around $200. The vibrator comes with a pill-shaped, AAA battery-powered remote, a USB cable to charge the vibrator itself, and even a little packet of lube!

It even has its own little drawstring bag to keep it in! Love luxury sex toys!

The first thing to say is that the Hugo is a very sexy toy. I love the curve of it – it has much more of a C-shape than the Prostate Play, though my first thought was that it might not feel as deep (more on that later). It feels great in your hand – silky smooth silicone but harder than the Prostate Play, especially the main bulb that hits your P-spot. The bulb that presses up against your taint is a little more flexible, but much bigger than the bulb on the Prostate Play. That was one of the things that attracted to me to the Hugo – I wanted more external prostate stimulation as well as internal stimulation – so I was excited to see how it felt.
The first thing you have to do is charge it up – once it's fully charged, it will last two hours. (Always make sure it's charged before you start playing – let me tell you, it's extremely frustrating when your vibrator cuts out mid-orgasm!) While it's charging, make sure you read the manual. This is not one of those toys that you can just unwrap and slide in. I was impatient (and horny!) and wanted to try it before figuring out all the settings, which brings me to my experience.
The experience
It took me a little while to get the hang of the Hugo. It slid it in easily and felt big (in a good way!) but not quite as deep as the Prostate Play. The bulb on my taint felt great too, though it tended to slip to one side rather than stay in the middle. You press the button on the bulb that sits on your taint, which turns it on in the basic setting – a constant vibration. The power of the vibrations took me by surprise – much more powerful than the Prostate Play. But even though it felt great, I didn't immediately have the same multiple orgasms that I had with the Prostate Play.
In retrospect I think that that is in part because I was distracted by trying to figure out the settings on the remote while I was still getting used to the feel of the vibrator inside me. I'd actually recommend forgetting about the remote initially and just using the vibrator on its own. It took me a while to get used to the different shape – initially it almost felt like it didn't fit me – but once I did and was able to tense and relax my PC muscles around it, and pull it onto my P-spot, it was a completely different experience.
Now suddenly it felt even deeper than the Prostate Play – maybe because it was right on my P-spot. The powerful vibrations directed right there felt incredible. But it was the bulb pressing against my taint that did it. The combination of the main bulb hitting my P-spot so powerfully and precisely and the vibrations in the bulb pressing against my taint made it feel like my prostate was being enveloped. That led to mind-blowing multiple orgasms – even compared to what I was used to with the Prostate Play.

As I said, the remote is a little tricky to figure out. It has a ton of different settings that allow you to increase or decrease the intensity of the vibrations and set it to different patterns. But there is also one setting where you tilt the remote up or down to shift the focus from P-spot to taint and from left to right (above). In other words, you can hit different spots with incredible precision. I love the vibration on my taint – and when you have it on your taint for a while and then switch to prostate, it feels amazing. At that point it feels soooo deep inside me.
The other great thing about the remote, obviously, is that it means that you can give your partner control over the way your prostate is stimulated. (You have to be in the same room though – if you want to be able to do this long-distance you need a prostate stimulator that is controlled from an app on your phone, like the Lovense Edge 2.)
The verdict
As I started out by saying, the Hugo is now my absolute favourite toy. It's definitely the most powerful vibrator in my little (but growing!) collection. I love the way it feels inside me – I get those delicious involuntary contractions even before I turn it on. I But I rarely even use the remote or the different settings – just the vibrator on its own on the basic setting is so amazing. The multiple orgasms start within seconds and are so much more intense than anything I had experienced before. The Hugo is definitely on the expensive end, but totally worth it. (Sex blogger Zachary Zane agrees.)
The Hugo is definitely more of an intermediate-level toy – it may not be the best toy to choose if you're just beginning exploring prostate pleasure. In my experience, you need to get to know your prostate first, learn what feels good, and develop some control over your PC muscles so you can get the most of it. Even once you try it, it can be a little tricky to get to grips with (read the manual!). But I am so glad I persisted with it. If you do too, it will take your prostate orgasms to another level.
