Tantus Prostate Play review

The Tantus Prostate Play kinda changed my life! It was the first prostate toy I tried and gave me my first prostate orgasm. I've described that experience in more depth in another post. So what I'll focus on here is the Prostate Play itself, which is the perfect first vibrator for someone who is just beginning to explore prostate pleasure like I was.

The basics

Tantus is a Nevada-based company, owned by entrepreneur and sex educator Metis Black, which pioneered the use of silicone for sex toys. My partner and I had already tried some of their c-rings and loved them. One of them, the C-Sling, has a "tongue" that presses against your perineum aka taint. It was partly because of how good the C-Sling felt against my taint that I was intrigued by internal prostate stimulation. The Prostate Play, which “teaches men to relax the muscles surrounding the prostate,” sounded perfect for a beginner like me.

The Prostate Play retails for $63 so it's reasonably-priced. It is 4 inches long, with a curvy, flexible shaft. It has an egg-shaped bulb that pokes out to hit your P-spot and another smaller bulb that presses against your taint (but doesn't vibrate). It is powered by a bullet vibe (with a 1.5V N type-battery) that slides in the bottom of the toy. Another interesting and unusual feature is the three diagonal ridges on the shaft, which hold the vibrator in place and also enhance pleasure.

The experience

The Prostate Play feels really good in your hand – it's the same soft silicone as the Tantus c-rings. I wasn't sure if maybe it was too big for a beginner, but I was amazed at how easily it slid in. It felt kinda thrilling as its curves and then the main shaft with those three ridges passed my sphincter. The feeling was totally unlike anything I had experienced. After I got used to it, I started kinda tensing and relaxing my butt around it, which felt even better.

You turn the Prostate Play on by pressing on the button on the bullet vibe. It has three speeds: slow, fast and pulse. I started with slow. It immediately kinda took my breath away and I had to concentrate on breathing. It also felt really good when it was on pulse and I tensed and relaxed my butt as it vibrated rhythmically. But although it felt good, I wasn't really sure what was supposed to happen next. After what felt like about 20 minutes, I pulled it out – which actually turned out to be harder than sliding it in!

The second time I tried it, I was more relaxed. After what seemed about 20 minutes again, I suddenly started to feel something different. I relaxed even more and gave in to it and realized I was about to have my first prostate orgasm – and before I had time to process it, it happened. I must have been orgasming for like two minutes. When I finally pulled it out, it still felt soooo good as the toy's curves and ridges slid through my butt – it actually made me want to slide it back in again.

Later that evening I played with it again and this time my orgasm started within five minutes. It was even more intense, felt even deeper, and went on even longer than the first one. It was totally mind blowing. By the fourth time I played with it two days later, I was having multiple orgasms almost instantaneously when I turned the vibe on. I don't know how it does it, but it really does teach you how to relax your PC muscles so you can have a prostate orgasm. For me at least, it was so easy!

The verdict

The Tantus Prostate Play was my go-to vibrator for a long time. After a while, though, I wanted something more powerful on my taint, which is why I got the Lelo Hugo. Now that I've tried the Hugo, the vibrations on the Prostate Play don't seem that powerful by comparison. But at the time when I was first exploring prostate pleasure they blew my mind. In other words, the Prostate Play a perfect first vibrator, especially because it's much cheaper than the Hugo – and for me it will always be special because it introduced me to prostate orgasms!
